Little Foxes has a Key Person system and running alongside this is the buddy system. When children join our nursery they are assigned a key person. This means that a particular Nursery Nurse will work with your child as much as possible. The key person’s buddy will know and see to all the individual needs of the child, if the key person happens to be absent for any reason. The key person will build a special relationship with yourself and child ensuring they get to know them in the special way their parent/carer does. The key person will get to know your your child, how they tick, what makes them happy, their preferences even down to what their favourite lunch is. They plan individual children’s activities and their scope of learning so that they are reaching their full potential whilst also striving for that bit extra. You will liaise closely with your child’s key person on a daily basis to see what is being achieved and how your child is whilst here at Little Foxes.
We also work closely with local agencies within the three councils to provide the most up to date Special Educational Needs (SEN) Provision available. In every setting we have a S.E.N. Co-ordinator who ensures all children with additional needs are receiving everything possible to benefit the child. The co-ordinators attend every available training course and are aware of all new legislation and services that become available. Children of all needs, no matter how big or small, have a right to access services to benefit them and our S.E.N. Co-ordinator ensures this takes place. Each nursery also has an assigned Area S.E.N.C.O. from the Local Authority to provide additional support should it be required.
We have three Behaviour Management Co-ordinators that liaise with each other so that the praise and boundaries set by staff are consistent. This is so children feel safe that they know how to behave in an acceptable manner from babies to toddlers to pre-school and they will be rewarded and disciplined in the same way. The system works well and ensures all children are treated equally with love and respect.
